ZeroTouch
ZeroTouch is a new form of optoelectronic multi-touch sensing, allowing for easy integration with existing displays and capable of 20+ simultaneous touch points. It is nearly insensitive to challenging ambient light conditions thanks to the use of modulated infrared sensors, and the modular architecture allows sensors to be built at nearly any size and shape.
The technology was featured in the CHI Interactivity Demo Session at CHI 2011 in Vancouver, Canada. At this event, attendees got the chance to interact with the system in a number of applications, several of which can be seen in the video shown above.
Zerotouch is a point-to-point visual hull sensing technology, meaning it uses hundreds of modulated infrared sensors and several infrared LEDs to create a series of invisible light beams that cross the screen. When these beams are interrupted, it means something has touched the screen, and we can visualize the interruption of the beams to reconstruct the visual hull of any objects inside the sensor frame.
