Zenman Improvisations

The ZenMan Improvisations was a concert performance by Ulrich Maiss, in collaboration with the Electronic Composition Class taught by Jeff Morris at Texas A&M. This piece was a performance combining cello (Ulrich Maiss) and vocoded drums (Marc Fogelsong), with myself as the mediator between the two performers. I could capture live loops of the cello, which would then be vocoded through an electronic drum set, enabling me to control the synchronicity and timbre of the performance, along with additional electronic flourishes and background ambience. We had one initial practice session before the stage performance, and the result was a pleasant surprise to all three of us.
